Quantum Computing
From research to real-world application: quantum and quantum-inspired algorithms to solve complex optimization problems that classical computers cannot efficiently address.
Idea-Re is the connection point between businesses and the world of quantum research: technical expertise, an applied approach and an academic network to bring quantum computing to the service of business.
Areas of expertise
What we do
-
We formulate real-world optimization problems as QUBO models (Quadratic Unconstrained Binary Optimization), implementable on quantum annealers and classical simulators. This is the ideal approach for highly complex combinatorial problems.
- Optimal sensor placement: water networks, hospital infrastructure, distributed IoT systems.
- Logistics and supply chain: optimization of routes, resources and scheduling.
- Sustainable component design: quantum-inspired algorithms for low-environmental-impact mechanical design (QSUD Project).
-
Our team, led by a Full Professor of Measurement Science and made up of physicists and engineers, explores the potential of quantum algorithms in real-world scenarios, including through cloud-available simulators and hardware (IBM Quantum, D-Wave).
- Quantum Machine Learning: integration of quantum algorithms with machine learning models.
- Hybrid classical-quantum systems: architectures that combine classical and quantum processing to maximize performance on hardware available today.
- Quantum simulation: modeling of physical and molecular systems for pharmaceutical and materials applications.
- Quantum finance: portfolio optimization, risk assessment and algorithms for complex markets.
-
Idea-Re positions itself as a competence center and technology-transfer hub for companies that want to approach Quantum Computing without having specific expertise in-house.
- Training and awareness: workshops and training programs for management and technical teams.
- Applied proofs of concept: development of use cases tailored to the client's business.
- Access to the research ecosystem: collaborations with universities, research centers and European networks.
-
- Sensor Placement on real water networks: optimization of pressure sensor placement through quantum annealing, currently used by an Italian private company for real-time computation
- Indoor hospital localization: RTLS system for monitoring healthcare-associated infections (DATAH Project). Add project link
- Wastewater-based epidemiological surveillance: active WBE-COVID system for monitoring public health in Verbania. Add project link
- Q-ESG: quantum-based digital platform for ESG monitoring and reporting. Add project link
