DSS_VA_GRAPHENE

Advanced graphene production with explainable AI and virtual assistant for optimised efficiency and quality.

Abstract

The project aims to innovate and optimise graphene production processes through the integration of a Decision Support System (DSS) based on Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI) algorithms and a virtual assistant (VA). This system aims to overcome the current limitations related to graphene production and the formulation of GNP nanomaterials, enabling a significant improvement in production efficiency and the quality of final products.

Details

  • Partners: Idea-Re (Lead Partner), NANESA
  • Reference Mission: Mission 4 – Education and Research
  • Total project cost: €626,203.50
  • Total contribution: €459,298.80

Project objectives

  • Optimise the individual steps of the graphene production process;
  • streamline the experimental testing phases;
  • support Nanesa in process control and product quality;
  • define new methods of human-machine interaction.

Partnership

Creation of a digital model that collects and encodes expert knowledge, enriching it with data from interconnected systems. The model will enable probabilistic reasoning on production processes, providing clear explanations of results in natural language. A virtual assistant based on natural language models is planned for intuitive and fluid interaction with process experts, in support of decision-making.

Source of funding

Project co-funded by the SPOKE 9 call of the VITALITY Ecosystem – Innovation, Digitalisation and Sustainability Ecosystem for the Diffuse Economy in Central Italy, within the framework of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) – NextGenerationEU, Ministry of University and Research.

Expected impacts and results

  • Significant improvement in production efficiency and the quality of final products in graphene production and GNP nanomaterial formulation.
  • Provision of detailed and clear explanations of results in natural language to process experts, in support of decision-making.
