Description

The research on the preliminary design of an integrated device for Healthcare 4.0 was presented at the MetroInd4.0&IoT conference.

The spread of antibiotic-resistant bacteria (Multi Drug Resistant, MDR) is a significant public health issue, requiring the adoption of advanced surveillance systems.

In this context, Idea-Re contributed to the development of the project "DATAH: A DATA driven solution to reduce multidrug-resistant (MDR) bacteria Health hazard," in collaboration with the University of Brescia, K-Digitale, and Baxter International.

DATAH aims to optimize and automate the clinical processes of managing and monitoring diagnostic routines for the surveillance of activities and risks related to healthcare-associated infections (HAI), with particular regard to colonizations by antibiotic-resistant bacteria such as carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE).

To this end, DATAH:

  • develops IoT devices based on machine learning for gesture recognition (hand washing);
  • optimizes indoor localization systems using quantum computers;
  • manages real-time processes using Business Process Models and Notation (BPMN).

The systems developed enable the creation of an innovative digital platform capable of verifying the implementation of routines and automatically adjusting them based on trigger events, so as to carry out the most appropriate actions for the scenario occurring within a healthcare facility.

On June 7, at the conference "MetroInd4.0&IoT - 2023 IEEE International Workshop on Metrology for Industry 4.0 and IoT," Dr. Cristina Nuzzi of the University of Brescia presented the paper "Gesture recognition for Healthcare 4.0: a machine learning approach to reduce clinical infection risks," produced within the DATAH project, presenting the results of the preliminary design of an integrated device for Healthcare 4.0 that could help the medical system comply with sanitization procedures in an intelligent manner.

The article was co-authored for Idea-Re by Lorenzo Sani, Alberto Garinei, Emanuele Piccioni, Federico Bianchi, Massimiliano Proietti, Andrea Marini, Stefano Speziali, Marcello Marconi, and Alessandro Vispa.
