On 20 October, Idea-Re took part in Quantum Week 2021, the prestigious quantum computing conference.
During poster session no. 8 of the IEEE Quantum Week - IEEE International Conference on Quantum Computing and Engineering, one of the most authoritative events in the quantum computing field, Idea-Re presented the contribution "Solving Sensor Placement Problem In Real Water Distribution Networks Using Adiabatic Quantum Computation".
The paper presented quantum optimisation algorithms developed to identify the ideal installation points for pressure sensors in a water distribution network. The optimisation problem, formulated as a QUBO (Quadratic Unconstrained Binary Optimization) model, was solved using Quantum Annealing run on a D-Wave quantum computer.
