PLANET
Citizen Science-based ecosystem for enhancing the relationship between people and their territory
Watch the videoAbstract
PLANET aims to achieve the integration of various agri-food, tourism and environmental protection activities, through the creation of a Citizen Science-based ecosystem for the promotion and enhancement of the relationship between people and their territory.
Details
- Eligible expenditure: € 159,320.00
- Support: € 71,694.00
Project objectives
- collect, process and make data available at multiple levels, becoming a hub for the multifunctional enhancement of territorial heritage;
- develop a sustainability protocol to incentivise good environmental practices such as the circular economy;
- generate resources for environmental mitigation and protection interventions;
- feed innovative data analysis algorithms for the delivery of new services.
Partnership
PLANET is structured around nodes made up of stakeholders: citizens, agricultural and hospitality businesses, environmental protection bodies, and institutional and commercial partners. The connections are based on the collection and exchange of data relating to environmental, meteorological and hydrogeological indicators generated by devices distributed across the territory.
To promote participation, gamification mechanisms and blockchain technology are employed. The use of trustless technologies - transparent and scalable - enables the remuneration of data-based transactions through token issuance, fostering the rapid spread of PLANET and the integration of Citizen Science projects for the socio-economic enhancement of the territory.
Source of funding
The PLANET project was the subject of a funding application under the POR FESR 2014-2020 - Axis I - Action 1.
